do you think that a woman could have any man she wants?

this came up in conversation between me and my dh last night. I used to work with a girl who claimed that "any woman can have any man she wants". I suddenly remembered it last night when watching Katie on the apprentice.

so do you think it's true? do you think that you could have any man you wanted?

Sadly, no. I've tried, and I've had quite a few, but sadly I have my limits.

And these days, I'd be surprised if I could have any man at all

BrothelSprouts · 07/06/2007 11:35

I suppose so, if you were determined enough.

Pruuni · 07/06/2007 11:37

Hmm. No.
If it were true we'd have worked it out aeons ago and the world would be a very different place.

mylittlestar · 07/06/2007 11:37

Nope I don't think so. It depends on the man I guess. His situation and his morals.

I think that any decent man, especially one in a relationship, would say NO!

However I have no RL evidence of these so called 'decent' men... so ignore me!

lemonaid · 07/06/2007 11:39

No.

I don't think there's a single woman who could have any man she wanted. And I certainly don't think that any woman can have any man she wants.

Hell no. Get real - we have stalking laws in this country.

Tigana · 07/06/2007 11:39

Nope.

Men do have ability to control their own actions - despite occassional examples to the contrary.

choosyfloosy · 07/06/2007 11:42

Absolutely not in my case. I suppose if you add lots of qualifiers like 'if she is good at seduction', or 'if she can read signals really well' then possibly.

In two cases I have had men actually recoil violently when I have misread what I thought were sexual overtures. Quite right too. Men are not always interested in sex (at least with me) any more than I am always interested in sex with them.

occasional

FCH · 07/06/2007 11:42

No, certainly not, although I think the average woman would have a better strike rate chasing men on their terms than if she wanted one on her terms . Lots of men have standards too you know!

motherinferior · 07/06/2007 11:42

Also quite a few nice attractive men turn out to fancy other nice attractive men, I've found.

Tigana · 07/06/2007 11:43

Jolly good point MI!!!

Desiderata · 07/06/2007 11:44

Why did Katie from The Apprentice remind you of that?

Surely Katie couldn't have any man she wanted ... could she?

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 07/06/2007 11:49

I think it may be true that women have a better strike rate at landing the man they do want than men landing the women they want, IYSWIM.
I have managed to get every man I ever wanted (up to this point!), but have turned down a fair few who wanted me .
Think tha magic may have gone now, though. (Very sadly)

lazyemma · 07/06/2007 16:15

Demonstrably, no.
