Urgent child maintenance

Right so , until last year I had maintenance for my son paid via the CSA , however when this ended and we switched over to child maintenance upon conversations with him I never contacted the child maintenance service to set up a new claim as we came to a Private arrangement , up until two months ago all was fine and he had been paying however is now refusing to do so .

My question is if I phone child maintenance now will they already hold all mine my sons and my ex's details (not on birth certificate) or as they are the 'new ' agency will I have to start from scratch and give them all the information like they've never heard of me before or will they know he is already the named father and was paying previously ?

Thanks in advance

I had to start over. Initial questionnaire before a reference number is given to begin application.
Ex self employed and fiddling so I didn't bother in the end.

There's no backdating of claims so the sooner you do it, the better. Tell them he has failed to stick to the agreed arrangement. If he doesn't stick to the CMS schedule, escalate as quickly as possible to collect and pay. They will deduct 4% from your payment for this but he will have to pay an additional 20%. I don't know the answer to your original question but I suspect you will need to start from scratch.

You have to start from scratch & your claim starts from the date they first make contact with the paying parent. You'll also have to pay a £20 set up fee.

I'd also point out that it's basically the CSA rebranded & that they're quite possibly even worse than before - which is ridiculous when you're paying for a service.

I'm not completely sure but I think before contacting the cms you have to first contact child maintenance options who will give you a reference number in order to start a new claim. My claim was switched over earlier this year and they came back to me saying my ex didn't work at the place he's been for years and that I know he is still working. The csa collected from his wage but this new lot have done nothing to chase him it appears and I've not seen a penny in six months or so

This is correct - child maintenance options first and they give you a reference number for CMS.
