Hoping someone can offer me some advice. I was putting a film on for my kids on my husband's iPad yesterday. Some twitter updates appeared at the top of the screen then instantly disappeared. They were visible for a couple of seconds - just long enough for me to see that they were sexual in nature and then they vanished.

We both use Twitter for professional purposes, ie sharing relevant news stories etc but that's all. The kind of update I am used to seeing at the top of my screen is e.g. you might be interested in this post from BBC news.

I don't want to confront him without any evidence but equally I know that what I saw, although I am starting to doubt myself. Is it possible he has a second Twitter account? Can I check? Do people even use Twitter for dodgy stuff?!

Have to eat so apologies if there is a delay in replying.

People do indeed use twitter for dodgy stuff, BUT twitter loves to fuck around with your settings, so you end up with a non-chronological timeline, 'such & such liked this' 'posts you may be interested in' 'some spambot porn a/c followed/liked/RT'd you' as notifications. It's bloody annoying.

Fairly easy to check who he's following/liking tweets from tbh. You haven't said if they were actual notifications or DMs - if DMs I'd be more concerned (but again, pornspambots quite often find a way through). And yes, perfectly possible to have more than one twitter a/c - I'm currently running five (one as me, the others for work stuff)

Both Jason Manford and Vernon Kaye sent sexual messages to women on Twitter, as did an MP recently. So, it can be used for that. However, as a PP said, Twitter can be weird so don't worry yet.

Thanks for your replies. He isn't secretive with his iPad, leaves it lying around etc and I have the password. I had a very guilty look on his twitter feed earlier. There aren't any weird followers or anything dodgy. The things I saw yesterday were notifications, not dms. But wouldn't they be in the notifications bit if they were related to his normal account and sent by spambots (where the bell icon is)?
I guess what I'm worried about is that he has a second account that he had accidentally left himself logged into. We have no history of this btw. I just have an uncomfortable feeling.

Could be a second account but i would have thought they were more likely to be DMs...the notifications don't look very different.
