Hi
My question is I recently updated my FB Messenger (it kept prompting me to do this) and then noticed that I couldn't see when certain people were last active on Messenger. It works fine for some people but not for my daughter or my partner...annoying as he works nights and I'll look to see if he's been active before I message during the day so as not to disturb him...
He hasn't changed his settings at all so what's going on? He has an Android and hasn't updated.

How long has it been since you last messaged him or your DD on there? No idea if this is right but I’ve noticed I can’t see last active for people I haven’t messaged recently, could that be it?

crappyday2018 · 29/08/2018 16:04

I notice if someone hasn't been online for a long time it stops showing after a while.

Auntpetunia2015 · 29/08/2018 18:30

If they’ve not been on line in last 24 hours it doesn’t show from what I can make out.

cameltoeflappyflapflap · 29/08/2018 21:37

They may have switched off that function.

I had it set to show when active but decided to switch it off.

How do you switch it off so people can t see last active?

mogratpineapple · 29/08/2018 23:57

it's all changed. So now it shows when the phone/messenger app was last active - not the person. For example, if someone messaged you at 3 am even if you were fast asleep, it would show that that was the last time you (the app) were active.

It can be turned off via the phone, I think. Not sure how it's done (coz I don't care) but if you look through the settings I'm sure you'll find it.

crappyday2018 · 30/08/2018 09:07

If you are on a computer, you can turn it off in the very bottom right corner of the screen.

DesertOrchid558 · 30/08/2018 11:11

Thanks for all your responses - I still can't work out how I can see some people 'last active' and not specifically two people even though they haven't changed their settings...a mystery

That’s interesting mograt

I have a question too - someone on my messenger will be offline on messenger but when I’m on fb on my computer they have the green dot there. Why is this??
