A friend the other day said I looked “Obviously single” cant help but be slightly offended by it! I am single but didnt think strangers looked at me and thought it which she said they will do. Am I being silly or would you be offended by it aswell?

Didn't you ask her what the hell she meant by that?

Apparently because I have 4 children and they are always with me its obvious im single. I thought it would be the opposite and people would assume I was in a relationship but apparently not. I know its petty but its bugged me Confused

So she's saying it's obvious you're a single parent because you're never seen with a man.

It's only because she knows you, because I would just assume you're the primary carer.

I'm not sure why she felt the need to say that.

Well an incident happened with a stranger being abusive to me and I was telling my friend about it and she said these people must have seen me before and know im “obviously single” as they wouldnt have done it if I wasnt apparently. When I asked her to elaborate she said because your always with your kids so its clear your a single parent. When I asked but how would strangers know that she said her neighbour says she sees me all the time so they probably do aswell.

She sounds like a total nutter, tbh. My ex-H was a useless individual and never spent much time with us, so i often went out just with my DD... but i was not single!! Now i am technically single but people i work and socialise with seem surprised at this. I think your "friend" is trying to make you feel bad about yourself, for reasons of her own.

PS. I am sorry that muppet was abusive to you. Hope you are feeling ok now x
