Just found out my mom used to be a prostitute

So I'm married and not in my mom's house anymore and recently her friend and her for into a fight and her friend texted me how my mom is crazy etc. So I decided to do a background check on my mom and found out when I was just a baby she got arrested twice for prostitution.. I haven't told my mom I found this information but now I feel my whole life has been a lie... what should I do?

My mom is a bit crazy.. I always wondered about her.. I always have to limit my activity with her or I get anxiety. I love her dearly and whatever she had to do she did. I don't judge her for it.. but when she tells everyone aka my friends she was a nurse it makes me cringe because there has never been proof of it

the USA is a harsh place to be poor. leave the past in the past, it's all you can do.

If your Dad was a serious drug user then he may well have been pimping as well. I’m sure this is a shock, but your mum is still your mum, and it doesn’t change that.

School holidays perhaps.........?

Don't judge her - just be grateful you've never had to do that. Also, since she has not wanted you to know about it, I would not mention it to her.

Be proud of your mum, she obviously provided for her kids in any way she could . She must have been extremely worried and scared to even think of doing this.
How many others would have done this if they were desperate to keep and feed their kids

So what did you think she was doing if you knew she wasn’t a nurse? You’ve gone from ‘my whole life is a lie’ to ‘she had to do what she had to do’ pretty quickly. I’m sure in another few minutes you’ll have completely come to terms with it and be concerned about something else that also never happened

It can be a shock to find something out like that
Go easy on yourself- being shocked is NOT wrong.
However, of course it doesn’t change anything about you and her.
