My partner's affair came to light today and I am unsure how to explain daddy's girlfriend to my 3 year old. We have never lived together but he comes here at weekends and we were regarded as a couple. Unfortunately in my fury at the discovery of the affair my partner drove away ( to his house) and my 3 yo asked where he had gone. I foolishly replied that daddy had to go and see his girlfriend. I would be grateful for any advice as to how to phrase this better so my child's life is disrupted as little as possible.

Books! There's a book called Mummy and Daddy glue. I'll see if I can find an Amazon link. And another called Choose.- families.

I would think your DC life wont be that disrupted if daddy doesn't have to move out as such - I guess just try and agree reasonable access/visitation for your DC to see your ex and limit the changes to routine?

hope you're doing okay... I imagine it will be hard to keep up with a 3 y/o with what you have going on so make sure you lean on people to give you some space to process this xx

Thank you both for your responses. I'll look at the book.
