My ex husband has just assaulted me in full view of my kids and neighbours. I’ve called the police who are investigating. Do I need to do anything else?

Get off mumsnet, comfort your children, try to relax and wait to hear further from the police

Try to dampen the drama rather than inflame with lots of discussion with neighbours
I’d take my children in doors, start on dinner, put a film on and shut out the outside world for the evening other than the police

Do you need to attend minor injuries/medical treatment? May be relevant evidentially.

glenthebattleostrich · 14/07/2018 18:52

Judgemental Carribbean.

OP, I'm sure you've made sure the children are ok. Make a cup of hot sweet tea, order take out for tea and try to get someone in real life to sit with you.

You could also try women's aid.

See if you can contact Women’s Aid, leave a message if they can’t answer.

Write down exactly what happened, and the names of who witnessed the attack.

Pixikitten0123 · 14/07/2018 19:07

The police have taken a statement over the phone and they’re coming at some point to take copies of my photos and take statements from my neighbours and children. I’ve been advised to go to my GP.
It started months ago as emotional abuse then stepped up to financial abuse then this today. I can’t say exactly what he’s done without revealing myself. I’m sore but ok. The kids are fine.

If your injuries involve being strangled or choked in any way, get to A & E immediately as such injuries can still be dangerous hours or even days later.

Where is the bastard now, OP?

I hope he gets put away for this. Angry

Go to your GP or A&E. You will need this as evidence to help stop it happening again. Take care of yourself.
