SBXH treatened me via text .. can I take to police

So .. stbx and I have argued .. via text as he refuses to talk like a normal adult. He hasn't paid any maintenance for 6 months and has just been paid. He asked me to call off CMS as he didn't want to pay collection fee and promised that pay today. Guess what!? So I text to ask him to pay and he told me anymore to wait til he was sure they weren't going to collect from him. I sent a copy of letter showing this and he gets stroppy and threaten me that I should watch out as he won't be responsible for his actions.

I'm frazzled and stressed as behind in rent due to lack of money and now he says he will report me to police for abuse.

He is diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and acts out. But I'm so fed up. Is there anything I can do?

Stop listening to his bollox. Stop believing that he will suddenly become reasonable. Stop worrying about the police. They will laugh at him if he goes to them with an I'm being harassed by the mother my children who is quite reasonably asking me to pay maintenance that I owe harassment story!!
Go back to CMS and insist they take action to collect. if he 'acts out YOU call the police on him! In fact he's treatened you already so ring police now.
there is no point in arguing, by text or anything else. Let CMS deal with him. You deal with CMS.
He's not reasonable, probably has never been reasonable and never will be reasonable! Stop hoping for miracles. Everything needs to be done through the legal channels: access, maintenance etc. No more contract by text, phone etc.
Just stop.

Thingsdogetbetter..,great name! Thank you sometimes you can't see the wood for the trees. Yes I will go back to CMS the issue is he won't tell me his employer , hopefully they can find out.

It's the cms bloody job to find out his employer! This stonewalling about employers must happen all the time. Save your energy for chasing cms. Good luck.
