Blocked WhatsApp, glitch or paranoia?

I’m pretty sure I know the answer to this but I thought I’d just run it past the wisdom of MumsNet!

I’ve been talking to a guy on WhatsApp after connecting on Tinder. He’s suggested meeting up in the week but weekends are easier for me so I’ve suggested meeting last weekend and this weekend. He couldn’t do it, which is fine. The issue is that last weekend on the Friday, I noticed that his name, photo and online status had disappeared. I assumed he’d blocked me and sent a test message - only one tick so I thought I was definitely blocked. So far so normal with Tinder.

On Tuesday I received a message from him - photo, name and status all back! I said that I thought he’d blocked me and he denied it. Ok, I’m not technologically advanced so I thought maybe I’d made a mistake. He suggested meeting up and I suggested Friday (just gone) which he said was tricky for him. Friday lunchtime I noticed his name, photo and status had gone again!!

So mumsnet, two questions for you:

1. I’m not wrong am I? He’s definitely blocked me two weekends in a row and unblocked me midweek?

2. the only logical explanation for this is that he’s in a relationship isn’t it?

I’m blocking him either way because I can’t be bothered, but I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t wrong!!

Yes he is blocking you and then unblocking you when his partner isn't around.

Yep, probably married and blocking when with the wife, I know someone who used to this,and also would delete kik etc when driving in case he was in an accident and his phone was accessed

Yes he’s blocking u and yes he’s in a relationship probably works away in the week which is why he can only meet up on weekdays
