Working from home

Both DH and I can wfh. I work flexi hours which means I can pick DD up from school. The compromise is I am up at 5. DH drops her off and is up at 7.

I try to wfh two days a week but my laptop never connects when DH is here. We have crap bandwidth and are waiting for fibre. DH also has masses of Google home type things.

DH wfh 5 days a week. I have asked him that we disconnect all non essential devices to trouble shoot and he won't. I therefore think he needs to go into the office twice a week so I can work. Is this unfair? It won't go down well. He doesn't seem to be bothered that I can't actually work while he uses up the bandwidth on voice calls.

That sounds an absolutely reasonable compromise to me. My dh and I also wfh (though not 100% of the time) and we have to work around each other if we’re both home, mostly in terms of noise. We also live rurally and have crap bandwidth (we only got fibre here a month ago, it’s life changing!! We can stream videos now!!). When one of us had a Skype call or something, yes, the other has to be quiet and not break the internet. That’s just common sense. How about he leaves on alexa but turns his WiFi off so you can work? I suspect he wouldn’t be thrilled with that, so why not go where he can work most easily if internet access is an issue?

He sounds a bit selfish, he should either make a compromise or you move to somewhere that has fibre now!

Or change the Wifi password and don't tell him until he turns off his non essential devices Grin
