just wondered if anyone has experience of going on events organised by speedater? I need something for a late forty something woman that doesn't involve online dating- I've tried hobbies etc, to meet people but theres rarely any single men around and this would (in theory) at least let you meet single men of a suitable age?
I would go to events in London

My friend tried it and while she didn't meet anyone she wanted to be romantically involved with she had a fantastic time.

I've always fancied this but I'm a bit lacking in body confidence at the mo. Plus I've heard nightmare stories of vile arrogant men sitting down in front of the woman, instantly deciding they're not interested and refusing to make conversation for the three minutes - simply staring at the ceiling or their phone. I would DIE.

yes- if I went I would have to go alone as no single friends at the moment and this would be the sort of thing I would dread happening!

I've done it! Didn't meet anybody but had a great time and would do it again.
Treat it as a bit of fun - plenty of people go alone and even if you don't match with someone romantically you might make a friend out of it.
Personally I think it's one of those things a singleton should try... just to experience it. Go for it!
