Dodgy online dating profile?? - should I report?

Hi. I never think of myself as being an overly cynical or suspicious individual, but have just read a profile on POF, which doesn't ring quite true. Maybe I am being unfair though, so feel free to let me know!

There's a bloke on there claiming to be an 'autism psychologist', working with children with autism. His profile is about one paragraph long, and it reads as one long sentence. No punctuation and it doesn't read particularly well. It also seems unlikely that a psychologist would use abbreviations such as 'plz'.

I just have visions of mothers with vulnerable, autistic children contacting him.
And is there even such a thing as an autism psychologist specifically?

Have just reread the profile, and he also says that his wife passed away through cancer two years ago.
He's certainly going for emotive.

It sounds a bit sus. Can you do a search on his profile picture? Make it full size, hold your finger until a list of options comes up and then select 'search Google for this image'.

Ah I don't know how to do it on a MacBook - that's what works on my phone. I think you download the picture and then paste the image into your browser bar and then search that way. If you do the image search, it takes you to which web pages show the image. Scammers quite often nick other people's photos so if you see a list of say social media profiles or other pages that don't belong to him, it will prove that it's a fake account. Then you can screenshot the evidence and send it to POF.

Thanks. I mean, I work with children with autism/additional support needs. I wouldn't feel the need to say so on there, and I don't even work in the same high falutin capacity as him.

Totally get that. I don't know what someone who genuinely does that job and is a widower would get out of putting it on a profile. I can think of lots of things that someone would get out of lying about those circumstances and those lies being the only information given about themselves though. It's just very button pushy. Like the Facebook scammers who are always in the army whose wives are dead.

Yeah, he could have just put psychologist. As someone mentioned upthread, very emotive.

Also on a profile, I'm pretty sure saying he was a widow, would suffice, rather than the terrible circumstances around with wife's death.

On my POF (I know) profile, I put my general line of work, although not specific job and it does generate a lot of questions and (supposed) interest.

I agree that he's attempting to draw in vulnerable single mothers with vulnerable children.

POF will delete a profile in a flash, you just have to hiccup. They’ll take it down no problems

I'm not sure about the reporting either.

I reported loads of profile pics for not showing a recent picture of their face but nothing ever seemed to happen!
