I need to sort out the practical stuff
I haven't had a new bank account for years. As I am staying in the house I need to carry on all the direct debits
At the present time we have joint accounts. Can I open an account and directly transfer over the direct debits from a joint account? They are all in my name anyway
I was thinking first direct may be the one to go for. I'm with Lloyds now but my local branch closed anyway

If the accounts are already in your name I think you should be ok to just tell the suppliers that you want to change account details.

How much money will you typically have in the account?
How much will go into the account each month?
Have a look at the Santander 123 current account.
It's very good.
You get cash back on all sorts and 1.5% interest.
Maybe look on the comparison sites as well.
Some banks will just do it all for you.

My ex removed himself off our joint account- it was easiest.
