$300 OR $500?

We live in Texas, my husbands family lives in Utah. His brother is graduating from High School so my husband was going to take the trip to see his brother. BUT......the flight is $800 now. My bad, I waited last minute to buy a ticket. My husband doesn't want to go anyway.

He said to send $500 as a graduation gift instead......yea right.....I suggested $300. Is that more appropriate? Well its all pretty outrageous to me, but what else can I do? I made the mistake by waiting too long.

If your H is going, why was it your responsibility to buy his ticket?

$300 is fine.

The whole bit about him not booking his own ticket aside, $300 is a fantastically generous graduation gift. I grew up in the US (so I understand the whole hoopla of graduation there), but I don’t even think my parents gave me 300 bucks for graduation. It’s generous and thoughtful, I think, and maybe perhaps use some leftover money to fly up to see him another time when flights aren’t so expensive.

Clear the cookies on your computer and check the flights again. Always worth a shot!
