Getting divorced and joint owned house not selling - run out of ideas!!

Decided in the New Year that we are splitting up and put the house on the market in March. We had an initial flurry of 5 viewings, very positive feedback but no takers...and then next to nothing since. It has been dead. I have knocked on the doors of a couple of other local properties that have been around a while and they have said the same, it started well but then quickly went dead. We have reduced the price twice and got a single viewing out of it each time. We could reduce again but the current price is already dropping us into a different bracket of house (we are now in with local 3 beds instead of 4 beds) so Im worried people are now wondering whats wrong that we're cheaper than other 4 beds. Seems we cant win with the price! Any ideas on what to do? Anyone found a way to resolve this that doesn't kill financially??

Maybe post a link in property, people are very good at making suggestions on how to present a house and to make sure photos on site are well done.

CAn one of you buy the other out? Or one stay in the house until it sells and the other move out?

I’ve just separated and we are trying to sell too. The market is completely dead at the moment where we are(south east).

Prices are falling and if I was a buyer (I will be once ours shirts) I would be sitting it out and seeing where it ends up. Just my 2p

Its really difficult.

I was in the same situation. House went on market in november last year. Managed to get an offer in march. Just completed, last week. I moved out in the end. Couldnt live there anymore.

Post a link, and there maybe some advice people can give.

Probably over-priced originally.

We're would-be buyers in the SE and not buying at the moment as prices keep falling. But are still massively over-priced and unaffordable compared to what they were just a few years ago. I don't have a spare half a million quid for a very ordinary 3 bed house! And realistically I don't imagine many people do.

The gap between what homeowners think someone should pay for their house and what people can actually afford to pay is huge.

Post a link to the house so we can give you a horribly candid appraisal Grin

What about an Open Day? That can raise some interest.
