I'm new to all this relationship stuff as I was with ExH for 17yrs.

I have been dating my bf for 3 months now, we were exclusive after a couple of weeks as we were both really keen and we are in our 40s and can't be bothered with game playing.

Should I be concerned that now, at 3 months, he still only says that he 'likes me a lot'? I have very strong feeling for him but now starting to wonder if he feels the same?

Am I expecting too much too soon?

Yes - way too much, and way too soon....

After three months neither of you really know each other.
You may have feelings that feel strong - but it’s early lust/honeymoon phase type feeling.
You may end up actually loving him - but it’s really too early to tell.

So - enjoy and don’t rush anything.
You have been married for a long time - and are probably eager to feel that security again.
But - try to resist that. Let things develop naturally.

I agree don't expect too much too soon and don't rush into declarations of love yourself. He may have been hurt before and sensibly is taking it slow emotionally. Very hard I know but try not to get swept away.

Don’t try to force anything.

How can you expect someone to love you, who 13 weeks ago, didn’t know you. The first 18 months is a lust bubble.

Don’t sweat the small stuff & enjoy what sound like the start of something potentially good
