If you have a chat thread open and the other person is typing (3 bouncing dots) for a good few minutes, then no message comes through, what happened? Did they delete and not send? Does it show if they're typing, but on a different chat thread? Or something else?

I have wondered this too. I came to the conclusion they were typing to someone else on messenger and it was cross wires.

Or when they're typing for ages and a six word sentence pops up instead of the expected essay.

Tends to be they've clicked in reply and not actually typed anything

Or typed and deleted

The dots disappear when the message has been sent or deleted

Sometimes my DP says it says I am typing, and all I have done is seen their message and then clicked and done something else. Think messenger can be a bit glitchy like that.

They started writing and changed their minds.

They have it open and the keyboard is up. They may have gone on and used another app and forgotten about it.

OK, thanks for that guys. So it basically doesn't tell me anything at all, apart from the fact they've read it!

Just ask the other real life human you sent this message to if they intend to reply?

Didn't want to bug them grobags. Apparently they were reading and thinking.
