Can counselling help figure out relationship problems?

Has anyone had relationship counselling to help overcome how to move forward in disagreements or how to just help react differently before total chaos and mayhem erupts and results in questioning if can be together and maintain a healthy relationship
We are (were) very much in love but have a block on how to get out of arguments and think professional help is our only option to ensure we can be strong again
Does counselling actually help? Or is it likely to just fuel more drama bringing up issues....
We want to both try anything to make us as tight and strong again as possible but just got into a rut of blame, battling and loosing sight of issue at hand. Also, when is too soon we have only been together 1.5years 😬
Any advice or recommendations or success stories....or the opposite?
Thank you x
