My uncle S and long term partner have just sent us a very short notice invitation for their wedding next week.
I really don't want to go .......
Have not seen S for about 6 years and we don't really get on (this is mutual btw)
When we lived near to S he caused some problems (not insurmountable but very irritating) for dh at work
I would have to take children out of school (SATs week) and drive for 3 hours on my own with ds8, ds6 and dd2 and then occupy children at an evening wedding and reception.
My mum is having an operation that day
In fact, can't think of anything I want to do less on Friday.
But... S's partner is terminally ill and I assume this is what has prompted the short notice wedding.
So, moral dilemma, - should I go because of S's circumstances? - if it were not for his dp's illness I would certainly refuse politely and send present.
