How do you live together with Ex

How do those of you who have split but still have to live together do it:

Do your DC know you've split or not
Do you share the same bed
Do you still cook, do laundry etc for each other

There have been lots of posts like this. I only had to live with mine for a few weeks thankfully. We slept in separate rooms (but had a spare room) and I stopped doing any laundry or cooking for him.
We told our oldest son but not the youngest until he had moved out. It was a nightmare to be honest and glad it didn't go on for long.

Yes
No way
Sometimes
It's a nightmare.

Huskylover1 · 12/04/2018 21:36

Er nope. Because what you are describing there is a partnership. You have to live separately. Nothing else will work.

How on earth could you sleep in the same bed as an Ex? Where would your next Partner sleep then? Can you see how ridiculous that sounds?

Fed up but have no choice at the moment. I don't want to tell the kids until there is a plan in place to reassure them as they will have loads of questions I just can't answer at the moment. I'm sleeping on a sofa bed downstairs while he sleeps like a starfish upstairs. He doesn't give a shit, does nothing to try and save the marriage and nothing to help end it either. He won't talk about anything.

Laundry yes, cooking only at weekends when it’s for 2 young DC as well.

Forest - snap, it’s a fucking nightmare.

We didn't have kids but it didn't make it any easier. We slept in separate rooms but we'd been doing that for months before we actually split. I done nothing for him. He done nothing for me.

Hed be "nice" sometimes by asking if I wanted a pizza as he was ordering in and then would give me a bill knowing I had no money.

When I started seeing DP while still living with the ex he battered me. He threatened me all the time. I went to my friends house for the afternoon and he was sending me pics of my stuff in bin bags being thrown down the stairs.

He said he was throwing me out the day before my 30th birthday so I'm sitting in the council offices crying.

When I got my offer of a flat I started to see an end in sight and when I got my keys and my furniture I just left.

Went to wait on my furniture and just stayed at my flat when it arrived. My parents took me back to get some stuff when he was out then my friend took me to get the rest when he was at work and I just put my keys thru the door.

I would never do it again so if me and DP split he'd need to leave immediately or I would go to my mums.
