Business Wear

I was just heading back in to the office when a smartly dressed lady who was roughly about my age 45 39yo walked in front of me with seamed stockings.
TBH, I'm not entirely sure why I felt it was inappropriate office wear, but for some reason I did.
Anyone else agree, or do I need a reality check.....
No point asking MOH.....

def trying to impress someone at work lol

Thingsdogetbetter · 10/04/2018 19:22

How do you know they were stockings? I have loads of seamed tights. And I'm not out to impress anyone, i just like them.

WhiskeySourpuss · 10/04/2018 19:45

I wear stockings, seamed or otherwise, to work almost everyday because I don't like wearing tights not because I'm trying to impress everyone... I probably wouldn't rock up wearing fishnets but don't see the issue with seamed.

Now I understand the looks I get when I pop to Tesco at lunchtime jealous women thinking I'm some sort of hussy Hmm

chestylarue52 · 10/04/2018 19:58

I wear stockings almost every day I did not know I was twitching curtains Confused

ItsaPeppaPink · 10/04/2018 20:05

I too wear stockings regularly to workSmile As an aside, why post in relationshipsConfused

loveyoutothemoon · 10/04/2018 20:15

Are you a socks and belly warmer kinda girl?!! Haha Grin

AlonsosLeftPinky · 10/04/2018 20:16

You need a bit of a reality check I'm afraid.

On the rare occasion I wear formal dress rather than overalls I'd always opt for stockings over tights as it's what I do out of work.

Luckingfovely · 10/04/2018 20:26

Firstly, they could easily have been tights, I assume?

Secondly, seams on stockings or tights are traditionally seen as sexy, provocative, etc.

I think yes - they are slightly unusual for office wear - since most would see them as more suggestive than most business dress. But not outrageous.

As a pp said - I would think, on the pull!

Luckingfovely · 10/04/2018 20:28

Oh - looking at the other comments - my reading was that the OP was bemused by the seams at a smart workplace, not by the wearing of stockings in general.

CallMeOnMyCell · 10/04/2018 20:30

Did you mean to post in relationships?

TheYorkshireLass69 · 11/04/2018 08:15

thanks for the replies.
First, sorry for posting in relationships still pretty new to this, so sorry for entering it in to the wrong section.

Last night, I asked a few of my girlie friends over a glass of wine. Looks as if I need to reconsider my attire as many of them agreed with you lot.

Reality check it is then Smile

I wear them to work everyday as well and believe me I am most certainly not looking for any attention. As soon as I get home they come off and jeans go on. I just view them as smart business dress.
Most of my friends, 40+, also wear them instead of tights for work.
