Sisters Husband

Been a mn for awhile but name changed for this. My sister has been married for 12 years, has a couple of kids, bobs along as the majority of us do with the typical everyday stuff of life etc etc. Both work, neither go out very often. She infact doesn't really go out. He might go the the gym or out for a drink with mates but think easily less than once a month. Suddenly he's had a personality change. Wants to know what's she's doing all the time. Had cancelled his social media and thinks she should do the same. Moody at home with her and the children. Hyper critical of everything in home and with her. Whats happened ?

Based on MN history - he's having an affair!
Judging her by his standards (cheater) and wants to isolate her from SM so she cant find out.

Mollyboboff · 27/03/2018 21:53

Any more thoughts please ?

Agree entirely with Minnie

Has she asked him?

Not "are you having an affair?" (Obviously). But it does sound like something fishy has gone on. Is going on. HOWEVER, it may just be something that has happened to him, that has made him have a weird perspective change. I would say if he hasnt got a believable answer, then consider the worst...
It would have to be something very bloody drastic to be an explanation though (I am assuming she would know if there was a death in the family, or he had been diagnosed with something, or somethig equally dark which might cause him to lash out). And his behaviour is still unacceptable, anyway.

So, probably up to something...or maybe he has finished whatever he was up to. Getting her off social media would help protect him from any "rats".

The only other thing I can think of is drugs or alcohol or something. Confused

Yep he’s been shagging about it sounds like.

RainyApril · 27/03/2018 22:13

Suddenly needing to know what she's doing all the time, encouraging her to come off social media and being increasingly moody with her - it sounds more like she's had the affair.

SpiritedLondon · 27/03/2018 22:21

Blimey the answer to every problem cannot possibly be “ he’s having an affair”. Maybe something else is going on.... some kind of psychosis or other cheerful explanation?

Mollyboboff · 27/03/2018 22:30

Thanks for your thoughts. We get on extremely well and as her sister I pretty much know everything about her. We don't do secrets ! I would almost swear my life and isn't the one to potentially stray. She's a mum who takes the children to school, then goes home, or shopping or a catch up coffee. Works 2 days a week. Comes straight to me to pick up my child as I work eves, takes them home ,cooks dinner. As I said doesn't go out evenings. I suggested to her if she thought he'd had an affair but she doesn't think . Something is amiss .

Has she asked him?

Doesn't sound like an affair to me.
If it's a really drastic change of personality, he should perhaps see a doctor in case it's a neurological problem.
