I have been divorced for a year and my ex (who lives abroad) refuses to have absolutely ANY contact with me regarding the children, one of whom has special needs.
I don't wish or need to "chat" to him, however I do feel that it's common curtesy to tell me when he's coming to the UK to see the kids, talk about Uni/driving lessons (and who is paying what) and also what dates in the summer holidays he would like the children for the holidays (I bring up both kids myself with no help and need to ask for time off work, plus try and plan my own break).
I've even written notes to the out laws asking if they would pass on the message, but nothing... nothing at all!!
It drives me mad!!! I guess he feels that he still has this control over me?
What to do???

It sounds like he just doesn't want to be involved. What a shitty person to not be interested in his kids.

Make your plans and tell him what they are, and ask if he has any plans on alternate days that need to be put on the calendar. Then go on with your life. If he won't cooperate just get on with your life and slot him in when convenient for you and the kids. There isn't much else you can do really, just take back the control and try and be cordial with him if he does get in touch for the sake of the kids.
