Separating - how does it work?

Just at the early stages of a separation. My friend suggested taking turns to live at home with the DCs throughout the week so as not to disrupt their routine rather then one of us moving out straight away. Anyone else been through this with advice on how they did it, what worked, what didn't??

Taking turns to live at home sounds like an awfully confusing idea to me . How old are the children and is the seperation likely to become permenant, what are the circumstances?
