Would this bother you

Before I start this is an ex and I've noticed people on here day why are you bothered if it's an ex but this is really strange so I thought I would post anyway. Yesterday I was on my blocked list on whatsapp, I blocked exes number a while ago and over the years he has had a few different numbers so I've always had 5 numbers blocked and always assumed they were exes old numbers. Anyway yesterday (after about 2 years!) one of the "blocked" numbers had a picture! There was none before on the old numbers. It is a woman and no one I know, I have no blocked any women and she's appeared with a picture from no where, I typed the number into Facebook after hearing to do that on here and it's again someone I don't know but who lives very close to my ex. Who the hell is she?! And how did she get in my blocked contacts on whatsapp. This is going to really annoy me as I can't understand it. Would this bother you?

It wouldn't bother me because I would message the number and say "Hello, sorry, you were in my list of blocked numbers on whatsapp but I don't recognise you - do we know each other?"

Why let it annoy you when there is a more than simple solution to the problem?

Bluntness100 · 06/02/2018 11:45

The number will have been reused by the phone company for another customer. It's now her phone number. She appears on your blocked list as you still have the number blocked.

6demandingchildren · 06/02/2018 11:45

It might of been someone he has given his old number to,

theknackster · 06/02/2018 11:46

Telephone numbers are recycled when contracts end if you don't keep the same number on your new contract. Someone has been given your Ex's old number is my guess!

ThisLittleKitty · 06/02/2018 11:48

I thought about the reusing number but it's a complete coincidence then that they live in the same area?? I've already looked on Facebook and I definitely don't know her.

ALittleBitConfused1 · 06/02/2018 12:03

I would just say she now has the number that once was your ex, but tbh I'm not seeing the issue.
Maybe it is a coincidence she lives near your ex, maybe she knows your ex and is using an old SIM of his who knows, who cares.
You have the number blocked, she isn't trying to contact you or bother you so why waste your time thinking about it.

ThisLittleKitty · 06/02/2018 12:12

Just thought it was rather random tbh. Obviously if you have a number blocked in your phone of a woman you've never seen or heard of it's abit strange and happens to live in the same area as ex. But I guess it's a mystery. I doubt it's the transferring number thing as it's too weird to be the same area in the whole of the uk.

OP posts:
magicstar1 · 06/02/2018 12:19

Maybe she's with your ex, and he gave her his old phone and number?

YetAnotherUser · 06/02/2018 12:22

Either: She's a girlfriend of your ex's

OR:

Your ex now identifies as a woman.

ALittleBitConfused1 · 06/02/2018 13:58

I wouldn't even know how to block people on my actual phone I just ignore people until they go away if they warrant it.
I do have people blocked on wa and fb but I don't look at the list/their pics if I was that bothered I wouldn't have blocked them.
Like I said as long as they weren't bothering me I wouldn't be too concerned op, technology creates some strange happenings lol.
If you don't think it is a reuse number scenario then the only other option is she is involved somehow with your ex and is using his number, all sounds quite normal to me.

ThisLittleKitty · 06/02/2018 14:25

I still nosey at my ex (I know I know!) that's why I was on my blocked list and how I know that number as had no picture for so long. Sounds like it is just someone he has given the number to, didn't think of that. just wondered how I had blocked a random woman who I've never seen in my life.

OP posts:
Huntinginthedark · 06/02/2018 14:40

in the nicest possible way
Why do you care!
Most likely he gave or sold it to someone

ThisLittleKitty · 06/02/2018 14:54

Sold a SIM card? It's obvious I care because there's a random woman in my phone that's blocked. If people wouldn't find that weird then fair enough. I was just wondering how she got there.

OP posts:
Huntinginthedark · 06/02/2018 14:57

Was it a work phone?
And I just googled. If it’s a payg and it’s not being used the phone company can reuse it. Or any inactive number.
That’s probably the most likely

LoverOfCake · 06/02/2018 14:58

My ex once was allocated a phone number which had previously been that of a famous person. He used to get phone calls, texts all sorts for this person.

Huntinginthedark · 06/02/2018 15:01

Wow that actually sounds quite fun!

ThisLittleKitty · 06/02/2018 15:15

No he is unemployed. She works in a hotel about 20 minutes from his house so would be a massive coincidence. And both seem to live in the same area of london. Can imagine the famous person number would be exciting at first but get annoying quickly lol. This particular number is about 2 years old that's why it seemed so random. It's not a recent number.

OP posts:
Huntinginthedark · 06/02/2018 15:18

He probably knows her and has given her the phone then.

ALittleBitConfused1 · 06/02/2018 15:21

Op just move on , you seem to be very interested in your ex and have done quite a lot of snooping into this woman's life.
It was his number now it's hers end of story. If it's an old number why are you still looking at your exs very old blocked numbers, I would be more concerned with that than anything else.

MistressDeeCee · 06/02/2018 15:22

It's likely his number but with a photo of his girlfriend. My WhatsApp photo is my DP at the moment. I change photos randomly

LoverOfCake · 06/02/2018 15:28

It used to be a bit of a standing joke if he had calls from random numbers then he’d say “ah it’s probably for insert name here>.” Always amazed me how many people kept using the number years on. Clearly not great friends of his although he did used to get calls from agents in his particular field who would leave voicemails in the name of said individual even though it was ex on there. Clearly they weren’t that observant. Grin.

Things did get a bit Hmm when he started getting texts from someone who claimed to have worked under him some years back saying how he was in trouble and if he could only see his way to lending him £50k then he could start to sort out his life otherwise he was going to have to end it all. Hmm.

Emmageddon · 06/02/2018 15:34

I don't understand why this is bothering you so much. The number is blocked therefore you obviously have no wish to contact your ex. He has either given his old phone to his girlfriend to use, OR he has her as his profile picture. Does it really matter?

ThisLittleKitty · 06/02/2018 16:40

No he still has the same number. It's one of his old ones not his current one.

OP posts:
ThisLittleKitty · 06/02/2018 16:43

Wow loverof cake that's really crazy! I did hear of someone who use to text her mums old number after she does and one day got the shock of her life when the number responded! Turned out the number had been recycled by the phone company and the other person actually pretended to be her mum!

OP posts:
FallenAngel89 · 06/02/2018 16:49

Could he have blocked her from your phone? If he was seeing/talking to her before maybe he did it so she could never contact you if things went bad? Just a thought?
