Glad to see s'one else has a DP who spends hours in the bathroom, annoying at the best of times but positively grounds for justifiable murder when I'm PM.I've heard that starflower as well as evening primrose is supposed to help ( I'm trying it but you have to take it a for a while before it starts to work). I'm ff so I was PM within 4 weeks of DD2 - a nightmare i thought I had PND again.

munz · 29/04/2007 08:25

mine does that as well - and it's ALWAYS 6o'clock in the loo and he's there for like 20 mins knowing damn well J has his bath at 6 and he's on bath duties. I mean surely it does not take 20 mins to have a poop?

clutteredup · 29/04/2007 08:26

apparently so munz , but have you noticed it's always when there's something else to do.

Oh God yes!!

I've just been to see a gyny at the hospital this week cause it gets so bad. She told me that they can offer hormonal treatment - but to be honest there is no eveidence that it actually works. She said that there are only 2 clinically proven ways to calm you down - prozac! (Erm no thanks), or very doses of evening primrose oil combined with B6. She recommended 1 gram of evening primrose oil for me each day (apparantly there are no real dangers of overdose)- but not to overdose on B6.

HTH

I also avoid alcohol and caffeine for a week before (but not during - god no!)

Run or exercise each day for 30 mins to help with stress

Have started acupuncture - i find it really relaxes me, and helps me sleep when coming on - so tiredness doesn't become an issue.

Oh, and extreme PMT is called premenstrual dismorphic disorder - it's worth looking it up for tips.

Josie3 · 29/04/2007 12:17

that should read 'very HIGH doses' of primrose oil - nb to self preview!

i never suffered too badly with pmt before i had ds and stopped running due to injury - i am back on the pill again but still feel really like i could swing for mil when i have pmt, she is difficult most of the time, but when i've got pmt she just irritates me soooo much, due to see them next week & guess what, my pmt will be in full swing yippee, looking forward to it already(think i might need to go upstairs and punch a few pillows or treat myself to quick power lie down with a nice bar of galaxy, while pil are downstairs being pains!
dh is fairly understanding when i tell him it's pmt time again, he also gets it prior to football matches!

lizziemun · 29/04/2007 14:00

thegardener,

Like you i only had very mild pmt when not on the pill. After i had dd and i went back on the pill my pmt got realy bad. To the when dd was 10 months old i woke up in the night and if dh had woken and spoke to me i would have killed him (i went and slept in the spare room).

When i told him th following day he through the pill away. I have not taken them since.

I now have to decide what to do after i have this baby what we are going to do as we only want 2 children.

LilyLoo · 29/04/2007 14:06

All i can say is glad it's not just me. Feel slightly less stressed after couple of hours in the garden, think i will send dp out for bottle wine

DH calls it being 'spiky' at this time of the month

suzywong · 29/04/2007 14:22

bristley?
is that the same as want ing to rip his fckn head off?

LilyLoo · 29/04/2007 15:33

dp now cooking dinner, think he trying to stay out of my way we did have rather monumental argument this am about the fact that it takes him so long to get ready every day and i only have ten min tops and have dc's hanging off me whilst doing that, why

hoolagirl · 29/04/2007 15:38

Yes, usually once a month I tell him what a huge fg mistake he is and hasn't he packed his bags yet.
He usually says 'feeling hormonal dear?' which infuriates me further.

Ifonlyhewould · 29/04/2007 15:39

I know I keep harping on about it but take a look at 5HTP. It has done wonders for me. I take it with St John's wort. Ive had no PMT at all this month. Put it in yer search engine now ladeeees!

newgirl · 29/04/2007 20:15

YESSS

clues -
i really go off dh and demand that he get his hair cut!
i get emotional and get worried about little things that so and so said
i get a spot in centre of my chin!

magnesium works for me but ive run out and i always forget until it hits me again - when will i learn!!
