Initial solicitor appointment

What do I need to take? I asked them this question & they said just photo ID & proof of address.

The reason for me going though is to ask advice on how to split assets, we've been amicably separated for 2.5 years, I wasn't planning on using a solicitor to divorce, rather a mediator but I need to find out what would be reasonable in our case.

And is it ok to tell them that? (That I think it'll be cheaper to use mediator)

Bring rough figures of asset values with you. Write down what you want to ask, and write down their replies.
