Shoes on or shoes off - early dating stages...

I'm 'conducting' the next stage in my dating at my house (for dinner).

It's going to be ridiculous as I don't have a sofa, table or any chairs and, although I absolutely DO NOT anticipate shagging, I am sleeping on a blow up bloody bed.

What I want to know is, as this is still very early days and I am still trying to look as good as possible, how do I wear shoes (esp. in my own home) without looking silly and like I'm trying too hard??

Feels weird to wear a dress and then barefoot as I normally would be at home, but then answering door in heels feels like I'm just about to go out.

Please nobody suggest dodgy heeled mule slippers - I couldn't do it to muself!

TIA

Shhhhhh! colditz! He's not my bf - I cannot allow that word into my vocab, I really can't but I am quietly excited.

He is a bit of an unlikely candidate which is why I am persevering a bit. I need to NOT go for the usual type I seem to end up with.

I really do like him though.

Clearly I need help in a general sort of way on this stuff...arse.

pretty dress and no shoes is very sexy IMO.

twinsetandpearls · 26/04/2007 19:21

this so reminds me of the start of my first relationship after divorce and I had one two very uncomfortable very formal chairs that could only seat one and no other chairs. I remember saying it will be the chair or the rug, we went for the rug

So what did you decide to wear newlife?

BettySpaghetti · 26/04/2007 19:25

another vote for dress and bare feet.

re:furniture, not sure when your "date" is but put a wanted on www.freecycle.org for some furniture. You tend to get lots of sofas on there and some dining tables and chairs too.

Nice dress, no shoes, sitting on cardboard boxes sounds incredibly romantic to me much much more so than sittingin a fancy restaurant with high heels on. Enjoy!

Right, now then...

Date's tomorrow evening. Going to make veggie morrocan goulash thing which is easy to serve and eat if one has no table.

Went out and bought pink nail varnish and also a cheapie dress from New Look which I will wear with silver sandals so as to avoid 'trying to hard' shoes on look.

Might add a pic in profiles later.

Dress is white and sorta girly I suppose.

Fake tanned myself already, just have a chin hair to pluck...

Just don't use goulash and Moroccan in the same sentence! Sounds dire!
I think you mean tagine!?
Good Luck!

Why, thank you!
It's a made up recipe of a morroccan type thing jumbled up with Delia's paprika chicken goulash thing.

So, I'll say Tagine - it has apricots in it.

Wish me luck! Just realised I don't have living room curtains. Well, what I mean is there'll be no rudeness as the whole street would see!
