6 years, my first boyfriend.

I was 16 turning 17 in 3 months, he was 22 turning 23. We have been together 11 years, married and 3 kids.

My parents weren't happy with the age gap, nor was he at the beginning either, but here we are.

SilverySurfer · 03/01/2018 19:11

When I was young I dated a bloke who was 6' 7" and I was 5' 1". That was quite a gap. I spent most of our snogging time with my feet dangling Grin

mustbemad17 · 03/01/2018 19:13

16 years (my now ex). Turns out older men aren't always more mature 🙄

Thisnamechanger · 03/01/2018 19:13

My DP is 48, I'm 30. He's my favourite thing in the world Smile

Offred · 03/01/2018 19:13

7 years older, 1 year younger and that is about as far as I would go in either direction at my current life stage!

JustAnIdiot · 03/01/2018 19:17

One boyfriend 12 years older, current partner 5 years older. Only once a younger man - I was a month older than him!

smilingeyes79 · 03/01/2018 19:18

22 years ... I was 18 he was 40. Great few months and a fantastic experience.

Dated similar aged guys for a while but have met the most wonderful guy now. He is 17 years older and we've been together 14 months. It's not without the occasional crossed wire but we are both the happiest we've been for a long long time :-)

RaeCJ82 · 03/01/2018 19:20

11 years and 4 months. We were together for 7 years.

QueenNefertitty · 03/01/2018 19:24

21 years - ExDP (and father of my DS).

The age gap didn't have anything to do with our split- funnily enough it was one of the few things that DIDNT factor

ladamanera · 03/01/2018 19:46

33 years- I was 24 and he was a film star. So very sexy. But I did get a bit fed up of hearing what the sunsets were like in the seventies Grin.

Eilasor · 03/01/2018 19:54

ExH is just over 11 years older than me. That's the biggest age gap I've had in relationships. I was 18 he was 29 when we married.

MummysMaison · 03/01/2018 19:55

My DH is 22 years older than me. :D

Graphista · 03/01/2018 20:04

9 years older, very unusual for me I generally go younger.

14 years younger.

Both were short lived. Most of my relationships/fwb have been within 5 years of my own age.

Ex 13 months younger, the guy 14 years younger was way more mature!

PaperdollCartoon · 03/01/2018 20:08

Might not count as we didn’t really date, but we were closer than friends and slept together once, I was 23 and he was 38/39, so 15 years older? He was a lovely man but I was going through a lot it wasn’t quite right. So glad he married a lovely woman, and I was at the wedding.

Younger? DP is 21 months younger and I think that’s the youngest.

TossDaily · 03/01/2018 20:09

DP is 15 and a half years older.

He's bloody awesome. I love the bones of the filthy animal Grin

Ingles2 · 03/01/2018 20:09

I'm married to a man 18 yrs older than me. we've been married 20 years..
I loved him for 18 of those years, now I can't wait to be divorced!
It IS an age thing, he's turned into a monosyllabic old man and I'm feeling like life is over at 45

whiskyfairy · 03/01/2018 20:11

Recent ex dp was 11 years older - 29 and 40.

He now reminds me a bit of Peter Pan 'never growing up'. Very fun and endearing, but underneath the attractive, good career, nice (own) home etc exterior he was a full on man-child.

Don't trust a 40 year old who still takes his bed linen home (and only annually I might add) for his mum to wash..!

miaows · 04/01/2018 01:14

My partner - he is 12 years younger than me. We are together now nearly 3 years.

MrsTerryPratchett · 04/01/2018 01:16

I fancied my 37 yo boss when I was 18. Thank goodness I never did anything because he was in a relationship and, looking back, clearly up for it. Yuk.

NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 04/01/2018 05:54

23 years - I was 28, she was 51. No regrets, but I'd probably prefer not to do such a big gap again. (Previous gaps: 12, 19, 3 years - always older. Now I think I'd aim to stay within 5 years younger to 10 years older, but who knows?)

BoredOnMatLeave · 04/01/2018 08:11

DP is just over 10 years older, been together 4 years.

fleshmarketclose · 04/01/2018 09:20

At 21 I had a short relationship with a 45yo man, it was great, we both knew it wasn't going to last so just enjoyed ourselves. I saw him recently by chance, he'd be 74 now and those eyes still had the same twinkle Grin

Jux · 04/01/2018 09:28

I once went out with a chap 35 years older than me; I was in my early 20s. His oldest dd was just 3 years younger than me. We were together for about 6 months. I dumped him when he came to a concert of mine (I hadn’t asked him) and I found that I really really didn’t want to introduce him to my parents, who were there too.

It was horrid of me.

guessthisisnormal · 04/01/2018 09:28

I was 16 nrly 17 and dated a 31 year old . We were together for 2 years before he wanted to Move away and I didn't.

FirstMumToBe · 04/01/2018 09:32

There is just under 11 years between me and my DP and I will never be with someone my own age ever again! I'm nearly 21 and he is already 31, met him at work been together 2 years and I had let my mum and dad get to know him before I told them his age!
