Spending NYE with new bf - big deal or not?

I've been seeing a man for about 3 months, we haven't actually had the bf/gf chat but didn't know how else to phrase it in title. I wouldn't call him my boyfriend as it feels quite serious relationshippy and I'm not there yet. Anyway I'm doing nothing on NYE (young dc) and he finishes work late so he's offered to come round for a couple of hours to see the new year in. I think it's sweet that he doesn't want me to be alone, not that I'm bothered, but I don't want him thinking this is a big step for us if that makes sense? I think some people may attach importance to NYE (I don't) so I'm just unsure how to perceive this and whether to say yes or not. I don't particularly want any grand declarations on the stroke of midnight Grin

You're overthinking

He sounds like a sweetheart. He obviously just wants to see in the New Year with you.

TheNaze73 · 28/12/2017 23:30

Don’t overthink it. If you’re both at a loose end & not letting friends down, I don’t see an issue

Mamakiks · 28/12/2017 23:37

Glad to be told I'm over thinking, he is a sweetheart, I just had this feeling that he would see it as a big deal! I've never seen the new year in with just a boyfriend. Plus there's all the potential talk of the new year and what plans we have for the future..

you’re overthinking. He’s basically asked to spend an evening with you, he’s not proposed to you... NYE is basically a piss-up.

meowimacat · 29/12/2017 00:41

I'm doing exactly the same with a guy I've been seeing (not my boyfriend...yet.) You're overthinking, but it's just a nice thing and shows promise for the relationship - the fact that this guy wants to spend his New Years with you doesn't mean seriously crazy things, but it does mean he seems like he thinks and cares about you :) When you think about it they could be out with friends/someone else, but they've chosen to spend it with us. Doesn't mean it's a huge thing, just a nice gesture. Have a great time x

Thanks meow! I guess the worry is that he might see this as a big thing and think our relationship is progressing quicker than I want it to! But from other responses it seems I'm over thinking this and it's not a big deal Smile

I think the only think the only thing to consider is do you want him potentially meeting dc if you’re not a couple yet and it’s only been a few months?

Plenty of people would be but plenty of others wouldn’t do I just think that’s worth considering rather than the NYE thing.

imip · 29/12/2017 01:03

I think he sees it’s worth seeing in the new year as he likes to spend time with you, not neccesarily he is going to propose, but that he really does like you - it’s a good thing, not a big deal, but not a small deal either -a medium deal - I like a third way Smile

Mamakiks · 29/12/2017 01:08

What do you mean middleclass? You mean if he's at mine and dc wake up? He's been to mine a few times and dc never wake up. He definitely won't be meeting them!

Yeah that’s what I mean. But if you’ve done it before and you know they’re pretty solid sleepers then it’s no different. He’s def showing you how much he likes you!

HoHoHoHo · 29/12/2017 13:46

I think 3 months in you generally have a feeling of whether or not you want to see how things go. Something about your post makes me think that you aren't really that into thia guy. If not that's fine but something to think about.

As for nye if you want to see him then go for it. It's nice that he thought of you.

Oysterbabe · 29/12/2017 14:03

Maybe he just doesn't want to spend nye alone. No big deal.

Mamakiks · 30/12/2017 09:09

Hohoho - I'm definitely into this guy but 3 months (when you have dc to think about especially) is not enough time to tell much at all! Anyone can be on their best behaviour for 3 months.
I'm going to spend NYE with him and enjoy Smile
