N.Derbyshire/S. Yorks? - Want to make new friends locally

Hi
This is my first post on mumsnet. I moved up to Derbyshire from down south and have a one year old son. I'm a happily married fulltime mum. I'm hoping to find some people who live fairly close-by (I live near Chesterfield);people who might know of local (child-friendly) places to visit etc and also may want to meet up for pushchair walks/lunch etc. My family and most of my friends are down south and I sometimes find it a bit lonely at home with my little boy (I'm sure I'm not the only one?)

P.S. I assume I posted in the right place since I'm looking to make new friends? Can someone let me know if there is a more appropriate place to post please? Thanks.

Hi - welcome to MN. Probably best place for this would be in Meet Ups

I'm in Sheffield. I have one DD, age 5.

The next big meet up in the Yorkshire area is the Mile for Maude walk, at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park on May 12th.

Other than that there are lots of MNetters in this region and meet ups do occur quite often.

Thanks for the fast response. I've posted on the meet-ups now. Do I need to remove this thread from here now???? If so, how?
Thanks for the warm welcome. It looks like a great site. I think I may have to limit my time on here otherwise I can see myself on here a bit too much!
My neighbour mentioned Graves Park (Sheffield?)to me the other day. Have you been? Is it any good? I'll see how I get on on here and if I get chatting with people I might go on the Mile for Maude either in Derby or Wakefield (Bretton?). I had not heard about it- poor little girl and poor family. I must say I had sort of written off SIDs after DS got to the 4(?)months because the risk is supposed to drop so low-it makes you think.

Better get back to DH.

Thanks again.

Just noticed that the time on my post was actually correct. I also post on another site but it is based in the US, or at least has US time settings and so I can never fathom when people have actually posted!
I gather this site is British? My friend had some very good things to say about it but I have not found the time to come on until today (other than a one off to check for re-usable nappy info).

Yes, this site is based in Britain, hence the time.

Graves Psark is nice. There is a small breeds farm there - only a small one, but nice for the hildren. Then there is the big park. I still haven't been round all of it as DD gets distracted by the animals.

MN is very addictive
