What are your thoughts/experience with dating a younger man?

I ask because I've known a guy for 4 months. We both like each other and things are getting more flirty. He is 3 years younger than me. I'm late 20s he is early 20s. Seems quite mature, he is already thinking for the future. We have so much in common.
People keep telling me not to go there because he's 3 years younger. What are people's opinions/experience on this?

3 years? I thought you were going to say 20 years younger. 3 is nothing.....

GottadoitGottadoit · 29/11/2017 20:09

3 years? Are you kidding? Can't believe you anyone would even call that an age gap!

Tinselistacky · 29/11/2017 20:10

9 and a half years between me and dh!! I am 46.

TeenyW123 · 29/11/2017 20:11

12 years between me and do.

TeenyW123 · 29/11/2017 20:11

Dh!

Josuk · 29/11/2017 20:13

OP - I opened this thinking it’ll be Demi/Ashton type of age difference.
3 years is nothing.
It may feel like it’s a difference in early/mid 20s but really, it’s nothing.

Don’t worry about it.

calamityjam · 29/11/2017 21:23

Don't be silly, you're practically the same age.

calamityjam · 29/11/2017 21:23

Don't be silly, you're practically the same age.

leaveituntiltomorrow · 29/11/2017 21:26

3 years is the same age. There’s 7 between me and DP and we regard each other as the same age.

NeilPetark · 29/11/2017 22:03

3 years are you serious? My DH is 4 years younger and it makes absolutely zero difference!

I thought you were going to say 15 years or something...

BadTasteFlump · 29/11/2017 22:07

Who are these 'people' who keep sticking their noses in? There is no 'age gap'! Tell them to butt out Smile

hashtagelfie · 29/11/2017 22:08

Isn’t Meghan 3 years older than Harry? If it’s good enough for them it’s good enough for the rest of us Wink
Dh is 2 years younger then me and it’s no bother

Heratnumber7 · 29/11/2017 22:12

I married my three years younger than me boyfriend 20 years ago. Still together.

Branleuse · 29/11/2017 22:51

I dont even think that is an age gap

Noodles4Me · 29/11/2017 22:55

FFS. 3 years? It's not even a bloody 'gap' - go for it. Same generation and on same page. Life is too short...

mindutopia · 29/11/2017 23:07

Three years is hardly anything. If you like each other, I would give it a shot. My husband and I have 6.5 years difference between us. We met when he was 21 and I was just turning 28. We got married 3 years later and had our dd when he was 26. He is really together and mature though. Before I met him, I pretty much always dated people about 5 years older than me so well into their 30s. He is way more mature than any of them ever were! We’ve been together nearly 10 years now. I absolutely think it can work if you’re truly compatible and at the same place in life and wanting the same things. Obviously when we met I was ready to meet someone and settle down and he wasn’t freaked out by that. It might have been different if he was a typical 21 year old who was just looking to play the field and pull though.

Hesburger · 29/11/2017 23:22

I think it's negligible! DP is 5 years younger than me - He was 21 and I was 26. He was definitely the one that wanted to settle down more than me. It's been 10 lovely years and hoping for many more.

It find it silly that one of my best friends wouldn't date someone as much as a year younger than her. It really is no bother!

thecatneuterer · 30/11/2017 01:38

3 years!!! He's not a 'younger man' - you're the same bloody age! This can't be serious.

Aquamarine1029 · 30/11/2017 02:09

11.5 years between me and my husband, and I'm the older one. We've been together nearly 10 years, married for 7. Three years is NOTHING. Honestly, when talking about people your ages, it's a non-issue. Anyone who makes a comment about it is a total idiot. His age is irrelevant. What matters is how he treats you and his maturity level. Don't give it another thought.

SteamTrainsRealAleandOpenFires · 30/11/2017 02:32

OP Go for it.

spiritofadventure · 30/11/2017 02:56

I can't believe you're even asking. 3 years is nothing, you're the same age!

Go for it!

BrioAmio · 30/11/2017 03:02

My husband is 5 years younger than me. It makes no difference what so ever to anything.
