Staying out of guilt

Been together 16 years i now know i want to split but feel a bit guilty should i just stay to save any aggro? I really dont want too infact i know i dont. Any advice?

Yes. My advice is that it's your life and if you are unhappy you have every right to finish your relationship.

If you have kids the most important thing is to split amicably and work out how to co-parent effectively and fairly.

Thank you both i am very unhappy and im now finding the strength i need to do what i need too do.
