am very nervous but have some good restaurant ideas from lovely mumsnetters. I would quite like to get some presents for him, his wife and their 13yr old son. they live in uber trendy New York so can't surprise them - don't what to get typical 'English' souveniers, would like something more personal but don't know much about them.

am anixous and panicy anyway and now worried I will get it wrong.

Waht do you thkn I should get?

How about some Whittards tea stuff for the mum?

DimpledThighs · 14/04/2007 10:15

a football shirt is a WONDERFUL idea - thank you so much. It will be easily transportable too. What kind of foodie stuff? Sorry I am in no state to think straight and I really appreciate you doing the thinking for me!

Carmere - Streets CD is a brilliant idea too - oh this is great and I can easily pick up those things on route and he is really into music.

Thank you!

i was thinking English tea, marmalade, chocolate, biscuits, that kind of thing.

fibernie · 14/04/2007 10:21

Decent chocolate and jaffa cakes - my brother lives in the states and stocks up on galaxy and the like when he's here!

DimpledThighs · 14/04/2007 10:22

yes tea would be fab - whittards or twinnings?

fiberene - jaffa cakes would be good - that's the kind of quirky thing that makes it a bit more personal. (and goes with the tea!)

fab - thanks - any more? I can go laiden with stuff!

We've just come back from NY and visited friends who sound a bit like your brother's family- they had just bought a Lily Allen CD and put it on in our honour because we were Brits- maybe the son would like that too? Some great ideas here though, agree with Whittards type stuff especially. Good luck
