Catfishing- who knew it could be so complicated

So I've just been catfished on Plenty of Fish - only for a couple of days by a guy local to me - rookie mistake, single image and I didn't Google it.
But he then recommended his friend as someone I should consider - as I wasn't his cup of tea.
After a bit of coughing and spluttering at the cheek of him I duly received a message from his friend who was not what I was looking for at all.
Anyway after some investigation and a bit of googling I realised they were the same person- and I was being catfished by two profiles.
The conversation that followed was interesting but who the hell goes to those lengths to get a date?
I am losing the will to online date very rapidly!

Seems crazy doesn't it. My ex about a year after we split (together 13 years) made a fake pof and FB profile and catfished any bloke I added to FB Not entirely sure what he was hoping to achieve, it utterly gobsmacked me and made me realize that people be crazy.

He basically told me that it was an experiment to see if it was all about the mental connection. But he had been pushing quite hard for me to meet his friend- even claimed they had had a threesome so he knew he was good in the sack!
I blocked him but probably should report it - I did take the Mick a bit in my responses and remain very very sceptical about people anyway but really? How desperate!

They aren't all arseholes - honestly! It really is just about snogging a LOT of frogs before you find your prince (who is wonderful and everything you had ever wanted but 13 years younger and who then buggers off to another country to work!) (also not really snogging - who knows what you might pick up.....)

And you should be chuffed to bits - how awesome are you for him to create another profile and try to cop off with you twice! Although I totally agree - sounds like he came across as rather desperate. And nothing is less attractive than a needy bloke

Thanks @monkeysmum75 I think I would have been flattered maybe had it worked like that - but I actually messaged him (the alter ego!) trying to be proactive!
