Going to cinema alone

Tonight I took myself to local cinema.

I am having trouble at home with DH (likely to be ExDH) so rather than stay in on my own and wish I had gone out this evening went to the cinema alone. Has anyone else done this?

I don't see why my DH gets to ruin my life with his miserable approach to life. I think he has depression but I cannot get him to address it.

I watched a horror movie called The Ritual. It was good but really scary. I'm home now and have treated myself to glass of wine. DH is out with a mate at a pub.

I'm fed up with this existence. DH seems to think that no one needs a social life when there is TV and dodgy Amazon firestick. We have drafted a long way apart over the last 10 months. The whole of this year.

Buy your ticket online in advance, it's always cheaper anyway. I go to the flicks on my own a lot. My DS will only come with me if there is a promise of explosions and/or car chases

I'm sure the staff are used to selling single tickets, lots of people go to the cinema and theatre on their own.

I used to for the same reason, I got away from him and there’s no way he would think to look for me there!

I love it no one bugs me during the film that way I agree if it bothers you (it dose me) I buy online! You are not wrong to do things that make you happy! Life is short! It’s s strong person that can see they are unhappy and do things to change it! Well done! I hope you carry on OP!

Much better than going with someone who talks a lot during the film or asks you what you yhought of it the minute it ends.

I go to the cinema by myself at least once a fortnight. I don't feel any shame at all in doing it and really enjoy the time alone.

I've been on my own loads of times, and seen other people wandering in alone. The person selling you the ticket doesn't even register it, let alone care!

This is the 3rd time I've done cinema on my own. In January this year due to a big Tuesday I went from home Essex to a West end show by tube, saw the show with an obviously empty seat next to me and came home by tube on my own. My mother was cross I went alone. Why should I lose cost of pair of tickets and miss out on the show? I really enjoyed it too.

I am happily single and sociable but also love to go the cinema, theatre and on holiday on my own. I can go when it suits me and see whatever I choose. I would never bother about what other people think. For me going alone is a positive choice and not done to escape either a person or a situation.

Haven’t been to the cinema on my own for ages. The last time I found myself at a loose end on my own I went to see an 18 certificate violent action movie. I swear the box office assistant checked three separate times that I really did want to see that film and I really was on my own and not waiting to meet up with a group/a man. It just got funnier and funnier. I bought a large tub of Ben and Jerries to take in with me and had a lovely time watching people being disembowelled/flayed/thrown out of windows/exploded.

I’m now trying to persuade the DC that they want to watch Thor:Ragnarok, but it’s a losing battle especially since neither of them are susceptible to the charms of Chris Hemsworth/Tom Hiddleston/Benedict Cumberbatch/Mark Ruffalo. I feel a solo trip coming on.

I went to watch 50 shades and there was a group who found it strange I was on my own ..i heard them say "who comes to watch a film like this on your own ?" Well obviously I do ! It made me really paranoid during the film . I can't see why some people don't realise that these days not everyone needs to be joined to the hip with someone or needs to do everything in a group to make themselves look popular .

Rafe Spall, Timothy Spall's son was in the film I watched The Ritual.It's very scary. I chewed my finger nails.

My mum will moan tomorrow that I am silly to put myself at risk in the car park late at night but it is safe. I wouldn't put myself at risk. There were other people leaving at the same time and it was not that late.

Do it all the time. Watched Bladerunner 2047 the other day and it was awesome (the experience not so much the film)

I bloody love cinema on my own and used to go alone much to my DP’s chargrin as he is one of these “one day I’ll do x” people which means he often waits so long we never get to see things. I go on my own and love it. Last thing I’ve seen on my own was Blade Runner Director’s Cut which was actually quite better that way as I immersed myself fully. I say go for it and don’t wait for no man. Literally.

Yes i do this. I do most things alone actually. Its a case of miss out or just get out there and do it yourself for me.
I eat out alone too. Most the time its fine but Sunday lunch in some pubs seems to draw attention from others. Its the only time anyone has commented.
