But still get to stay in our rented property?
I've had enough, this is no life for me and my Dd. We live within catchment of an amazing secondary school but I work part time and couldn't cover the rent even with housing benefit.
Dd is in year 5 so there is not long to go but I'm not sure I can ride this out. H is self employed but making barely enough to live on and seems to have completely checked out regarding providing for us, his family. There is a massive back story to this that I can't bring myself to document, but me and my Dd would be so much happier without him

How short would you be even with HB? There are discretionary payments that councils can make to prevent homelessness - and these can sometimes be used to top up rent.

Ultimately you'd have to be looking to move to somewhere cheaper but it may give you some time and space.

Would your DH leave if you asked him to? If yes, go and speak to CAB about how you could pay the rent.
