scared of him

advice please?
been with my OH for nearly 5 years, we have a house together but children (from previous relationships) are grown up.
he drinks a lot and can be abusive to me, not physically yet but lots of name calling etc, he calls me a cunt, a slag, tells me to go back to the gutter. he knows i hate the word cunt, and i have told him that if he continues to call me it then we are through. he denies it every time but I'm not deaf!
anyway, i told him this time we are over, i can't keep walking on eggshells any longer. now he's thrown my stuff outside, smashing some of my precious bits, he's moved the rest of my stuff from 'our room' to the spare room, and is still, a day later going round slamming doors.
he scared me last night as, after drinking a bottle of red and numerous cans, i thought he was going to hit me.
i know its over but we need to sell the house so need to live here for now.
what should i do?

Do you have any friends or family you can stay with for now? Sounds like he could potentially be violent so you could consider talking to the police

No you don't need to live there. You very very much need to live elsewhere. The house can be sold without you in it.

You should have called the police when he smashed stuff up and threatened you. You can still call them now and ask to speak to a DV officer.

i could to my Mums and sleep on her sofa, but she is elderly and really doesn't need me turning up!
i'll ask some of my friends for help.
i think if i go he'll change the locks.
