Anyone dealt with this and got any tips on how to survive without going crazy?

My Mil is perfectly nice but drives me crazy with her fussing around my dd. How dd eats, walks, climbs, any move she makes is apparently something to worry about. you'd think it's a wonder how dh and I manage to keep her in one piece.

'Don't put too much in your mouth', 'don't run down the hill', 'be careful carrying that.' Honestly, it's constant and I can't bear to be around it! How has anyone dealt with it? Do I say something??

Forgot to say - dd is 2. Tell me it gets better!

How often do you see her?

I'd let it go - it'll ease off.

My mother genuinely suffers with anxiety - you'd know if your mil was suffering with anxiety - and dealing with that required tact and patience. Sh should, by rights, have received treatment for it - but she hasn't. Even she eased off with the over-watching with time, which suggests to me that your mil will definitely ease up.

I'd bite my tongue and pour a glass of wine after visits. We have to share this world.

How would you react to a friend acting this way? What would you say? That's another possible approach. Extend her the courtesy (and that includes an adult to adult chat, from a position of friendship,) you would a friend, and engage with it that way.
