I've realised that there is a big problem with the way I relate to men I have an emotional attachment to- approval seeking, unrealistically high expectations of them and of myself, fear of rejection and so on. Unfortunately, realising that doesn't solve it and therapy is largely out of reach- my area only offers counselling and there is a very long waiting list. So I'm hoping someone who's had the same realisation can suggest resources that will help me help myself.
