The ex get's married. Yep, to the woman he left me for two years ago after 28 years together (although we never married...).

Mumsnet honestly got me through the first few months so thanks to all for that!

And as hard as it is (lets face it - those of us who have ever been in this situation never wants it to work out with the other woman do we!), I have come so far. Still not looking forward to it as DC is a bridesmaid but I HAVE to smile when I drop her off and be positive for her sake - I don't want to detract from HER special day.

Still sh*t though - just saying

That's crap - sorry OP.
Can you plan something nice for yourself while the wedding is going on?

JohnnyMarr · 07/09/2017 15:33

Good for you OP, my DC won't have anything to do with STBX's partner (formerly OW) but I'm sure it's inevitable that they will down the line. Frankly I'm horrified at the mere thought of it so kudos to you for casting your own feelings aside to enable your DD to enjoy the day. I hope when the time comes I will handle it with equal maturity because at the moment I'd be lying in wait at the venue with rotten eggs

TheNaze73 · 07/09/2017 15:48

You're amazing OP. Don't lose sight of this.

Getting married after only two years, must be extra galling but from experience, all the people I know that rushed into marriage are nearly all divorced.

Keeping your shit together for DC is commendable Flowers

Dollygirl2008 · 07/09/2017 15:57

Thank you for all your positive messages.

Sometimes I think I've been a mug in how accepting I've been, but we are where we are. I've just always tried to think of my gorgeous girl - she's at an impressionable age and I want her to be able to look back and think that I put her first.

But believe me - there have been moments of "egg-throwing" tendencies!!!!!!

Oh - and the other irony is - we've just sold our family home, and it looks like I exchange on my new home tomorrow!!!!!!!!!! So, after a long day at work tomorrow, I shall mainly be going out with friends and getting gloriously P!SSED!!!
