Back on the dating scene after many years, I need help! I have unexpectedly began a new relationship after many lonely years - which is lovely - apart from I have no idea how it all works anymore! Texting for example! (texting wasn't so prominent last time I was in a relationship) and although I am a competent texter among friends and family, I have no idea how it works in a new relationship! Do I wait till he texts me, do I send friendly/romantic/I miss you when we're not together texts??? Eeeeek! Someone give me some advice quickly before he decides I'm a lunatic and runs for the hills!

Do the same as you would with your friends. Whether you send romantic stuff depends on the type of person you are and relationship you have with him. Don't overthink it.

Thanks for your input Elmo, I have been over-thinking it. I hope I will be able to relax as the relationship progresses. It's so great to get other people's opinions, it helps me put things into perspective Smile

Keep the texting down to the bare minimum.

Don't text anything that doesn't add any value. By value, I mean arranging a next date, checking out if he wants to eat a certain restaurant for example.

Don't get caught in the inane text exchanges about checking he'd got to work ok & what are you having for lunch. Most people find them tedious.

Most importantly, just be yourself & live your life as normal, with a view that he'll enhance it. Good luck

Personally I can't stand ping pong texting about drivel.
