I told him it was with my solicitor. It is. Needless to say he is in a rage. I really don't know what he is thinking. He is sulking for Britain and on the edge of exploding. As always there is someone else to blame. There is always someone to blame. How he lives so unaccountably beats me. He is a nutter.

Why can't he order his own copy online?

He wants it so he can be in control. While we sort out a divorce he wants to cause me harm. That's why he wanted the certificate.

A prospective petitioner needs the Marriage Certificate in order to file for divorce. A copy can always be obtained.

Ha ha! No he wasn't stroking a white cat when he came up with his masterplan. The cat wouldn't have gone near him unless it was dead. It's a bloody situation and I am waiting for a video interview with the police. Everyone is on holiday. It's a grim wait.

His behaviour doesn't sound good at all, but surely the marriage cert belongs to both of you so he should be entitled to a copy?

I mean, it's obviously impotent rage because he can't coerce you into giving him something that you don't have on you, but that's still not going to keep you safe if he kicks off.

I would advise keeping other documents safe with a friend or relative. Eg your passport, birth certificate and any for children too.

I don't think OP is saying he's not entitled to a copy. She isn't preventing him from obtaining one is she? Why on earth would it be her responsibility anyway? He's perfectly capable of ordering one himself I'm sure.

The vitriol is much closer to the surface. He has said throughout our relationship that he must be able to defend himself so all his self-defence mechanisms are right up at the top too just in case of a perceived slight. He has been clocked by a therapist defending himself like this. I think she thought of it as a one-off. His behaviour has been clocked over the years by many therapists.

I gave the marriage certificate to my solicitor because I didn't want it in the house. It has to live somewhere.

Tell him he can easily get a copy from the relevant registry office.

I'm sure he can work that one out for himself. He wants it to wield power over me.
