Partner of over twenty years went ballistic last night. Business failing, have tried to help. Has used equity in our home as no income since began it. Next up pension savings. Behaves as though I am stopping him from just getting on with it. I am blamed for everything

He sounds like an absolute nightmare OP. I completely appreciate what you say about sunk costs but to be brutally frank staying any longer sounds like it will just go on costing you more and more.

I'm concerned about the physical aggression and the fact you've felt so intimidated you've ended up sleeping in the car. Is there anywhere else you could go and stay while you think it all over plan your escape?

Seeing a solicitor asap sounds like a really good idea.
