Strange email

Morning,

Just seen a weird e mail on partners e mail account. No trust issues but after reading threads about dodgy stuff I thought I'd look.

So e mail found is from a male name at a Canadian university. It reads "may we talk?" Signed with a girls name....

No response that I can see. What could it be? He has no ties to Canada, no friends there that I know of? Could it be spam?

As a disclaimer I know it's wrong to snoop, I've not done it before. I just felt after reading another thread about a cheating husband where the relationship was great, I started to think no one is safe, cynical I know.

Nobody can tell you. It could be spam; it could be someone who needs to talk to him. It could be a friend of a friend or someone he works with who went to Canadian uni and still uses the address (I know a fair few people who use their uni email addresses and graduated years and years ago).

Was there any other history with the email address? Was the name familiar? Your only real options are to snoop more; or ask him.

It's worth remembering that not everyone is a cheat, though, and you read about a disproportionate amount of cheats and broken relationships here because those are the people who need advice. People who are happy and stable and faithful have less need to start threads about their relationships.

I get loads of these kind of emails. Most of them make it into spam but some get through.

WhamBarsArentAsFizzyAsTheyWere · 14/08/2017 09:28

I get lots of these too.

'Can we talk?'

'Im in the area and want to meet up

'I'm coming over today'

Etc.

They are emails fishing for a response.

Hemlock2013 · 14/08/2017 09:33

Ok, that's good to know. I don't suspect him to be honest, but they never do do they?

There was no response from him and nothing else.... I'm happy to chalk it up to spam tbh and leave it there! X

Thanks for responding

What's the actual email address? I get loads of these and just hover my mouse over the name before opening it and can see it's from a junk address.

Hemlock2013 · 14/08/2017 09:42

The email address is from western university Canada? From a male name but signed off a different girl name...

Sounds like classic spam. I wouldn't sweat it.

jeaux90 · 14/08/2017 10:07

Yep spam

Beentherelefthimgotthetshirt · 14/08/2017 10:08

If your twat radar's never twitched and you don't have that gnawing feeling that something's changed and he hasn't started doing you tube ab work outs, bought a god awful narrow fit floral shirt and low rise drainpipes then put down the mouse, stop looking and go back to being a contented loved up soul.

ShatnersWig · 14/08/2017 10:10

That's so obviously Spam I'm astonished you're even asking

Hemlock2013 · 14/08/2017 11:53

Yup, fair enough. Thanks for everyone's input.

Happily he's still over weight and wearing normal clothes so I'll leave it there!
