Divorce papers were due to be served on him today

And I'm not sure how I feel. Numb and a bit scared he will kick off. Still determined to divorce him. But I haven't heard anything yet.

He has a big birthday this weekend but the timing is down to the solicitor. I did tell him I had filed. He is seeing our children for his birthday party but I declined his invitation to join them even before I knew about the service.

This whole situation sucks. Also my supportive friend's son is in hospital so she has gone to take care of him (and I am worried about them both).

Hand hold needed please Sad

No advice. Hand hold here.

Think of the positives to come, and hang on to that :) have a nice cuppa or glass of wine and bury yourself in a book or favourite show.

I don't understand the phrase 'divorce papers being served'. I know it's different, in for example, the U.S.
But when I was getting divorced (in the UK) papers for both of us just arrived in the post, it was no big deal, no fanfare, no nothing. Just another big envelope through the letterbox.
Is there something about the process I missed out on? Confused Do people get 'served' in a different way if they're disputing the divorce or something? It all sounds very dramatic so I do wonder why my experience was so...ordinary?

Hope you're ok OP.
