If you have no life outside each other and the children, emotionally you can reclassify each other as brother/sister and subconciously awaken the incest taboo, as in the case below:

www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2017/may/08/retired-couple-together-all-the-time-cant-perform-sexually

So even if it feels counter-intuitive, less time together and leading your own lives may help your relationship and sex life. This advice massively helped me and hope it helps someone else!

The link doesn't work...

I agree actually.

With young kids you begin to see each other as Mummy and Daddy not as lovers.

Hmm, a Pamela Stephenson Connolly column. My cat's advice on sex and relationships is less trite.

Subconsciously awaken an incest taboo?

What a load of absolute tripe Hmm

Let's think about your average sibling relationship - when still living together. Don't they spend a large amount of time apart, maintain separate interests and friendships? Surely then, the opposite of all their time together should dampen their incest taboo Confused

How about - he's 69 so his libido is naturally waning?
Or, all the time tugether makes them lazy about grabbing opportunities, and time together is no longer so special.
Far more likely than some awoken incest taboo bollocks.
