I spoke to Rape Crisis at lunch time so can't call them back this evening. I've googled and can't find any other help line I can call tonight. Am I missing something? I called somewhere else before but can't remember what it was called :(

Are you only "allowed" to call once in a day or do you just feel unable to call them again? If is the latter then please do call them again if you think they could help at all Flowers

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 18/07/2017 17:58

Sorry I mean do you not feel you should

There are some different helplines listed here so maybe one of them would be suitable?

I'm sorry you are going through this Flowers

BeauxReves · 18/07/2017 17:58

I think you can only call once a day. Sure I remember being told that the first time I called them

It was Safeline that I spoke to before but they shut at 8 and very much doubt my children will be sleeping by then....

The Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre (top of that list) is open 7-9.30pm. Would they be asleep by then?

Or Victim Support (for victims of any crime, not rape specific) is open 8pm - 8am

Depending on what you need, Samaritans? 116 123

BeauxReves · 18/07/2017 18:17

Thank you, Rape Crisis and the Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre is the same thing :( As in that's the helpline number on the Rape Crisis website

It's been a long time since I worked there but it wasn't a policy that people could only call once in a day. Please do call back.

BeauxReves · 18/07/2017 18:43

Thank you, I'll see if I can get through

www.rainn.org

Has an online chat. It's an American support service (but they don't ask where you live)

LucretiaBourgeois · 18/07/2017 18:52

Samaritans are available 24/7 if you can't get through to a rape specialist helpline. They can't give advice but they are a safe place to talk about your feelings and will give you emotional support. You don't have to be feeling suicidal to call them. Their freephone line is 116 123.

BeauxReves · 18/07/2017 18:59

Rainn is a great idea, thank you. If that doesn't work might try to pluck up the courage to call the samaritans....

NotAnotherNoughtiesTune · 18/07/2017 21:17

Good luck OP.

Hope you've spoke to someone.

PreparingToBeAMummy · 18/07/2017 21:28

You can text and email the Samaritans too. You are also welcome to PM me.

sunshineunicorn · 18/07/2017 21:34

Could you not contact a mental health charity as well? If you are struggling give them a call as well. They won't be as specialised as a specific rape helpline but neither or the samaritans. Def give them a ring as well if you can afford it

NotAnotherNoughtiesTune · 18/07/2017 22:11

I did training with Rape Crisis 5 years ago and they did say about not phoning multiple times in high populated areas due to people needing to get through. But depending on where OP is it might be quiet.

Here if you need to talk OP.💗

BeauxReves · 18/07/2017 22:17

Thank you everyone. Trying to get through to RAINN but there are 17 people ahead of me in the queue....

If you feel able, the samaritans answered the phone straight away and were very kind to me when I had experienced the same trauma. Hope you get through to someone in whichever way you're most comfortable with Flowers

BeauxReves · 19/07/2017 08:07

Thank you, I didn't get through to RAINN. Will keep trying today until I get to speak to someone

NotAnotherNoughtiesTune · 19/07/2017 08:10

Try rape crisis again today OP.

BeauxReves · 19/07/2017 11:17

I will. I'm going round in circles :(

NotAnotherNoughtiesTune · 19/07/2017 14:37

Have you got some counselling in person set up OP?

BeauxReves · 19/07/2017 16:33

No I don't. I have a rape crisis counsellor who calls every 2 to 3 weeks but its not really enough

OP posts:
NotAnotherNoughtiesTune · 19/07/2017 18:30

Are you able to access any counselling face to face? I'm planning to as think it could be very helpful.
