New relationship - birthday present?

Hi, I've met someone online and been out with him a couple of times. His birthday is on Monday. Do I buy him a present? He is moving into a new flat on tuesday so thought maybe a little something for that. But what? Would you buy him something or just a card?

If only but him something small for his flat if you're only two weeks into it x

Take him out for a meal maybe

Mintychoc1 · 16/07/2017 10:22

I would only buy a card at this stage, or maybe something cheap and jokey for his flat. I certainly wouldn't spend more than £5 over all (including card). Because it would look excessive .

I'd buy a card & take him for a meal/ a drink.

A card and a pot plant is fairly neutral but friendly.

KitKat1985 · 16/07/2017 10:25

I'd take him out somewhere. Out for dinner or to the cinema or something.

Ginger782 · 16/07/2017 10:26

Yep either something small for his flat (doubles as a housewarming present) or say you'll take him out for a drink next week (doubles as a date).

Thanks, I was thinking a card and a plant although I have no idea if he likes plants! If not a plant what else would you suggest?

A toothbrush holder with your toothbrush in Grin

KitKat's idea of a cinema trip is a good one. I just think if you get him a physical thing and then you split up, he'll forever have some miserable pot plant in his house from 'that woman he dated for 2 weeks'. Do you know what I mean? You don't know him well enough to know what kind of stuff he likes. If you do a cinema thing, then you get to treat him, spend time with him AND it's a normal early-days date thing to do.

Thanks all I think I will go with the cinema/meal thing and a card as its so early into a relationship that may not lead anywhere. Thanks for the replies
